Too often we view sexual relationships between teenagers and adults as the stuff of made-for-TV movies. (Think back to your middle and high school years when there was higher status given to the girl or boy who "made it" with someone older.) It is the usual nature of young teens to be vulnerable to the flattering attentions of adults during their most awkward phases of growing up.
However there is a sad, destructive side to most such relationships, and in New Mexico, they are illegal -- for a reason. These relationships usually have a marked power imbalance that makes the relationship coercive.See the full content of this document
