Padre Antonio Jose Martnez was a man of peace. But even the cura de Taos probably could not have foreseen his statue's unwitting participation in a protest against the war in Iraq on Saturday (March 17). The peace rally, during which his visage was draped with an American flag and had a picket sign placed in his arms, took place on Taos Plaza and was one of hundreds of rallies and marches conducted nationwide to draw public focus to the four-year anniversary of the Iraq War.See the full content of this document
