The music isn't just chanting, as some have erroneously described. It's music that soars and dips like the flight of an eagle over the mountains, canyons and mesas that make up the landscape surrounding us. It captures our hearts and draws us in closer, like that of children to the heartbeat of their mother.

This is only one magical aspect of the 25th Taos Pueblo Powwow, which takes place this weekend (July 9-11) on the grounds located near El Prado. This year, the powwow will be made even more special by its dedication to one of the most important events in the history of Native America: The return of Blue Lake.
