This Sunday is Super Bowl XLI (that's 41 for those of us who have never understood why we still use Roman numerals) with the Chicago Bears playing against the Indianapolis Colts. And whether of not you live and breathe football and have been counting down the days till Sunday, or whether you wouldn't know the end zone from the Twilight Zone, this is still the biggest party day of the year.

It may be hard to believe, but there are more parties on Super Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the year, including New Year's Eve. Only Thanksgiving Day surpasses Super Bowl Sunday in total food consumption. With an average of over $50 million dollars spent on snack food alone (that includes 14,500 tons of potato chips, 4,000 tons of popcorn and almost 9 million pounds of tortilla chips) we American's love to find any occasion to eat and party. And if you include beer, wine, and spirits in the festivities, I can't imagine what the total would then be.
