Summary


Speed Humps are symbols of too much success in building roads. The purpose of roads has always been to provide a surface for the fastest, most comfortable travel possible. As vehicle speeds increased roads were engineered to include banked curves, better traction, etc. to accommodate the improved technology of vehicles.

Traffic engineering has evolved to include many activities so that roads may be traveled as safely and swiftly as possible. Transportation technology has advanced so far that we now counter that success with speed humps.
