Summary
As a teacher at Taos High School, I'm regularly asked, "What's really going on in there?" I always appreciate sincere inquiries about the direction of our youth and the state of our educational institutions. I am, however, disturbed somewhat by the nature of these types of questions, which imply a certain amount of distance, isolation, and secrecy, either on the part of the school or the person asking the question.
My standard generic answer is that any public school will cram within its confines all that is good, admirable, deplorable, and contemptuous in the community, state, and nation. Quite simply, our schools reflect us, only in a magnified manner.See the full content of this document
